Each beautifully designed medal is stamped in heavy gauge bronze and finished in a heavy bronze plating that is thick enough to be engraved. The medals are rubbed with a soft patina to give them the distinct 'Py look.'

The St. Christopher medal comes in a jewelry box with a 24" chain.

St Christopher

(from the Greek word Christophoros) bearer of the anointed one

Recognized and venerated by both the Roman and Eastern Rite Catholics. It is widely believed that he was martyred by the 3rd century Roman Emperor Decieus who reined from 249-251. He still holds a feast day in the orthodox church of May 9th. In the Roman church he was removed from the calendar of saint feast days in 1969, because of the lack of substantiated evidence for his sainthood. But he is still listed in Roman Martyrology among the saints listed on July 25th his former feast day.

The most popular legend of St. Christopher is that of him carrying a small boy across a body of water on his shoulder and he was very heavy. The legend goes that the boy was the Christ child and the weight was from carrying the world on his shoulders.

St Christopher is highly revered by Travelers, athletes, mariners, motorist, and transportation workers.

He is the Patron Saint of many places most in Europe, but also the Philippines and Cuba.
