A new edition, decades in the making
The current English edition of the Liturgy of the Hours was translated in the 1970s. Since then, the Church has canonized dozens of new saints, revised its liturgical calendar, and approved a more faithful translation of the sacred texts. This new edition reflects all of those changes.
Beginning Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2027, this new edition may be used in place of the current one. From the First Sunday of Advent 2028, its use will be required.

A cleaner, more readable layout
Instructional rubrics have been moved to the side margins, clearing visual clutter from the page and letting the prayers breathe. The result is an organized, intuitive layout that guides the eye naturally through each hour.
Up to 20% More Readable
The new custom typeface is scientifically designed for easier reading. Like the distinct silhouette of a city skyline, the varied letterforms create a recognizable visual rhythm that makes the text easier to follow during extended prayer.
