DOUAY-RHEIMS BIBLE HARDCOVER W/NOTES - 9781849022668

This Douay-Rheims Bible with notes is a hardcover edition of the traditional English Catholic Bible, reset in a modern typeface and printed with ample margins for your own notes. It contains the commentary and notes that accompany the Douay-Rheims text, in a full-size 10 by 7 inch format. It is suited to Catholics who want to study the Douay-Rheims and write in it, annotating passages, recording cross-references, or keeping notes from a Bible study.

The Douay-Rheims was produced by English Catholics during the Counter-Reformation as a Catholic alternative to the Protestant translations of the time, and both its text and its notes were written to uphold Catholic teaching. It predates the King James Bible and influenced its translators. Older printings of the Douay-Rheims can be hard to read, so this edition's crisp modern font makes the text easier on the eyes for long study sessions. The wide margins leave room to write beside the text and the existing commentary. At just under 3½ pounds, it is a desk Bible for home study, classes, and group Bible study rather than one to carry.

Use & care: Made for study at a desk or table, with room to write in the margins; use a fine pen or pencil and test it on a back page first to check for bleed-through. Store the hardcover upright on a shelf, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
