New American Bible: Revised Edition - 9780062084736

The New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE) is a complete Catholic Bible, including the deuterocanonical books, in the translation authorized by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This cloth hardcover edition with dust cover includes an introduction and outline for each book of the Bible, explanatory notes at the bottom of each page, cross-references, and 16 pages of color maps. It carries the official imprimatur of the Catholic Church. It is suited to Catholic adults who want a full Bible with built-in explanations for personal reading, family use, or parish Bible study.

The NABRE is translated directly from the original languages and draws on recent biblical scholarship and archaeological findings. Each book introduction covers the work's historical context, literary style, main themes, and use in the history of the Church, followed by an outline of its contents. The notes at the foot of the page explain particular passages, terms, and concepts as you read. The cross-references show where the same figures, stories, or ideas appear elsewhere in Scripture. The text is set in a double-column layout, and the Smyth-sewn binding lets the Bible lie flat in your hand or on a desk. A presentation page, illustrations, and an index are also included.

Use & care: Suited to daily Scripture reading, family prayer, parish Bible study, and reading ahead of Sunday Mass. Keep the dust cover on when the Bible is carried or shelved to protect the cloth binding, and store it away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
